Choosing a Therapist

Selection of a therapist is a very personal choice and needs to feel like a good fit. You will be working intimately with a trusted professional, and you want to feel good about how you will work together. Working with a therapist is a very brave step in your personal well-being and growth. You may want to ask yourself if you have a gender preference, what the therapist’s specialties are, including credentials and licensing information. What’s most important is the competency of the clinician and the genuine interest and concern he/she has for you. It may be helpful to interview potential therapists and get an idea of who appeals to you. Feel free to ask questions as you deserve to know answers to the information you are seeking. You will get an intuitive ‘knowing’ as to whom is best suited for you.

Ways to Find a Therapist

You may be referred by someone such as your physician, clergy or friend. Referral is always a good way to find a therapist. Psychology Today has a Website for therapists in your location, or you may prefer to search the therapist’s Website on your own. Once you have made your decision to enter counseling, you made one of the most important and transformative decisions for life enhancement. You are sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings, and it’s only reasonable that you want the relationship to be a proper fit to achieve the results you are seeking.

If you have found me…

You may wonder what my work offers you and how it can help you get the results you are seeking. You may ask yourself what it would be like to sit in a room together forming a therapeutic relationship beginning with our initial visit.

About Me

“Remain calm, serene, always in command of yourself. You will then find out how easy it is to get along.”
~ Paramahansa Yogananda
Operating out of Aspen, Colorado, I am an eclectic psychotherapist and use a variety of counseling approaches that best suit your needs. I am a licensed and nationally certified Mental Health Counselor, certified hypnotherapist, integrative life enhancement coach, author, public speaker and seminar facilitator. Yes, I have degrees, too: a master’s in Counseling Psychology from Sam Houston State University and a doctorate degree in Education from Nova University. One of my joys is being a certified Integrative Life Coach. I use the Brainstyles System, based on the books BrainStyles and BrainStyles for Lovers, authored by Marlane Miller. Brainstyles helps you to focus on your core gifts and strengths that you were born with. My specialty includes assisting my clients to raise their level of consciousness and increase their vibration to walk along their path to personal growth and enhancement. People have a misconception that there is something wrong with them, and they need fixing. There is a lot more right with everyone than wrong. Truthfully, we all were born with pure beautiful souls and that soul needs to be awakened to remember who we are, that essence of pure love and light. All we must do is open to the wisdom and answers that are within us all. It would be an honor to be of service to you and to assist in facilitating your inner shifting to a whole and complete YOU that has always been there. I facilitate positive change and healing for transformation to guide my clients to thrive on every level encompassing mind, body, spirit and emotions, so you can live the life you were meant to live on every level: mind, body spirit and emotions. When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy traveling the backroads of Colorado to view the magnificent scenery with my two yellow labs, Annie and Archie, and friends… camping, hiking, picnicking. Such a beautiful country we live in.
