Q: I am a nurse, divorced twice and I want to be rescued by a wealthy man so I don’t have to work anymore. I am tired of struggling alone and I live with shame around my lack of money. Is this crazy? I’m 54.
A: While I don’t know your marital history and what contributed to your dissolution of marriage, I do know that you are educated and can make it on your own. I question your fantasies about money and the illusion of what it can do for you. If you are rescued by a wealthy man, yes your finances may
Have you thought about what you would like to do if you were rescued by a wealthy man? How would you spend your days, nights? What would you have to give up?
Sometimes surrendering illusions about this kind of life means accepting things the way they are. Perhaps instead of fantasizing about being rescued, you can affirm your own reality with the following affirmations to help you accept all you do have:
- I am grateful for my education and work experience
- I am more than my job and bank account
- I am balanced in giving and receiving love
- I have an appreciation of what I do have
- I am love and a valuable person who deserves abundance
Once you realize that you are pure love, you will attract a wonderful person who will want to share his love with you, including his loving kindness, compassion and passion for life.
I encourage you to examine areas where you feel a lack and shame around money. Does it go back to your family of origin? What were the messages you received around money growing up?
Was their secrecy? Secrecy only empowers shame. If you can begin to surrender your fear of lack around money, you will create new ideas of how you can formulate more abundance in your life.
May you surrender to peace within yourself.
