How to Achieve Balance in Life

Q: Can you give some suggestions on how i can achieve more balance in my life?

A: Everyone needs balance. When I think of balance I think of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts, that is the parts being mind, body, emotions and spirit. We need balance in allof these areas. We need a balance between work and play, thoughts and feelings, giving and receiving, and so on. With achieving balance, you are looking to integrate the harmony of your cognition (the thinking mind), emotions (feelings), body (physical body), and spirit (inspire, meaning and purpose).

You may want to draw a circle and divide it into 4 sections or quadrants and write your name in the center. Begin to write in each section what you want to achieve in all of these areas to achieve a sense ofthe whole. A balanced life feels in harmony in all of these areas.

You may find you feel balanced in some of these areas and not others. If that is the case, then focus on what areas need more work to achieve balance. For example, in the physical quadrant, you may want to look at ways to keep your body fit through exercise and the nutritional aspect.

What works and what do you need to work on?


A balanced life will give us more fulfillment and joy. If we are out of balance, we will know it and our inner guidance system will let us know. Pay attention and you will find that all of these areas are connected. They will intersect and you will see how it all works together.

Continue to work toward achieving balance in these four areas and you will feel a great achievement.
